CTL (Chronic Training Load)
Definition
CTL (Chronic Training Load) represents your fitness level — a 42-day exponentially weighted moving average of your daily TSS. Often called "fitness" in training analysis software.
Why it matters
CTL shows your long-term fitness trend. Rising CTL = improving fitness. Declining CTL = losing fitness. Elite athletes typically maintain CTL of 80-150+. The rate of change matters as much as the absolute number.
