Brick Workout

Definition

A brick workout combines two triathlon disciplines back-to-back with minimal rest — most commonly bike + run (B2R). The name comes from the heavy, brick-like feeling in your legs when you transition from cycling to running.

Why it matters

Bricks are essential triathlon training. They train neuromuscular transition patterns, test nutrition strategies, and practice T2 execution. Regular brick training reduces the severity of the heavy-leg feeling on race day.

How FlipMP uses it

FlipMP automatically detects brick workouts when two disciplines are logged within 30 minutes of each other. It labels them correctly and tracks your bike-to-run pace conversion over time.
