Progressive Overload

Definition

Progressive overload is the principle of gradually increasing training stimulus (volume, intensity, or complexity) over time to drive continued adaptation. The fundamental principle of all strength and fitness training.

Why it matters

Without progressive overload, your body adapts to current training and stops improving. Without adequate recovery between progressions, you risk injury. The art of coaching is managing this balance.

How FlipMP uses it

FlipMP monitors your week-over-week volume and intensity changes. It alerts you to unsustainable jumps (violating the 10% rule) and confirms you are progressively increasing load during build phases.
