Training Zones

Definition

Training zones are intensity ranges defined as percentages of maximum heart rate, FTP, or threshold pace. Typical systems use 5-7 zones, from active recovery through maximum effort.

Why it matters

Without zones, athletes tend to train at medium effort all the time — the "gray zone" — which produces mediocre results. Zone-based training ensures easy days are easy enough and hard days are hard enough.

How FlipMP uses it

FlipMP calculates personalized heart rate and power zones based on your connected data. After each workout, it shows zone distribution to confirm you trained at the intended intensity.
