Isometric Hold

Definition

An isometric hold is a static strength exercise where muscles contract but produce no movement. Examples: plank, hollow body hold, L-sit, wall sit. The joint angle remains constant throughout the hold.

Why it matters

Isometric holds develop the specific strength and body control required for skill-based calisthenics movements. An L-sit hold, for example, is a prerequisite for handstand press progressions.

How FlipMP uses it

Track your isometric hold durations in FlipMP. Progressing from a 10-second L-sit to 30 seconds represents significant core and hip flexor strength development.
